Items Overview

An item is defined as an individual piece of jewelry or clothing, a handbag or an accessory.

All items belong to a Primary Category and also have a Sub Category that specifies the grouping of items within the larger category. For example, the item shown below has a category of Clothing and a subCategory of Outerwear:

Items also have many characteristics such as the designer, item description, images and properties like colors, materials and pattern. Types of occasions or times of day can also be specified. All of these characteristics help describe the item and make it more discoverable during search and filter operations.

Most items also have a subset of category-specific attributes, for example tops might have a sleeve length attribute while pants would have one for leg length.
